You are Worthy.
A challenge is defined as a “call to take part in a contest or competition”.
Every day we face countless challenges, each presenting an opportunity for us to “take part”.
Waking up early. Sitting for a meditation session. Exercising. Finding compassion for a coworker. Eating healthily. Apologizing to a friend.
These are all challenges and the way we approach them can make the difference between having a joyful, fulfilling, and connected life versus one of sadness, guilt, and victimhood.
But it is difficult.
There is temptation, laziness, anger, greed. Name it.
How then, do we rise to these challenges and sustain healthy, virtuous decision making day after day?
It starts with believing that we are worth it. Believing that we have something to give. Something to offer those around us and the world at large.
And we all have something to give.
A person’s combination of genes and life experiences will never be on Earth again and it’s this uniqueness that allows each person to make a special offering to the world.
And our inherent value lies in this - not in a job title, fancy car, or number of instagram followers.
Although the name for our “unique offering” varies between religious and cultural frameworks, what is important to remember is that each person has “it”, and we are all worthy of the time and effort spent in expressing its highest version each day.
The “it” will be the focus of the next few posts.
I hope you enjoy them.
